Table of Contents
Order of Answering Sections
Students are advised to start attempting the Biology section of NEET question paper first. Biology carries 90 questions, 360 marks out of 720 marks. Then approach the Physics section and finally Chemistry towards the end.
Biology > Physics > Chemistry
It is usually observed that the Physics section is time-consuming as it involves calculations while chemistry typically has direct questions and is relatively less time-consuming. Biology has questions that are statement-type, direct ones that can be answered within 60 minutes and less with regular practising of papers, mock tests, etc. While solving previous years’ papers, keep handy the NEET answer key.
Attentive While Bubbling OMR sheet
A small inaccuracy while bubbling in the OMR sheet, can bring down all your efforts to arrive at the answer ultimately impacting your NEET score in spite of knowing the right answer. Most students lose out on marks here, hence extra care must be taken while bubbling. Shakiness while bubbling is common, you can overcome it by practising bubbling as much as possible. Download sample OMR sheets available online and have a well-practised hand.
The 10-second rule
The 10-second rule is simple. Read and try answering the question within 10 seconds – 7 seconds to read the question, 2 seconds to retrieve an answer, 1 second to bubble the OMR sheet. If you are taking any longer than this, come back to the question in the second round.
This way, visit all the 180 questions in 30 minutes. Round 1 of the answering is completed. The second round has slightly competitive questions and so are the further rounds. In short, keep the questions that you find challenging to the last. Two benefits of this:
- Your subconscious mind has read the questions and is trying to retrieve answers to the questions while you are solving other questions
- Challenging questions kept at last will only be a handful. In the worst case, if left unattempted, marks are still saved. Remember, marks saved are marks gained.
Look for keywords in the questions and options
Questions along with the options must be read and understood thoroughly. Often keywords such as “incorrect”, “correct”, “except” are slipped out. Stay more attentive while reading questions. Avoid negative marking by reading all the options of the questions before jumping the gun. Sometimes, you think you know the answer, but you missed reading the option “all the above”, which turns out to be the answer, hence losing out on 4 precious marks. In NEET, 4 marks correspond to losing several ranks, so be very careful. To discover more about how to maintain motivation to pass the NEET, visit this website: https://itvnews24.com/
